Qualifications
Experience
- CPA with minimum of 3-5 years of experience in public accounting or tax technology
- Experience supporting end-to-end tax preparation, including preparation of workpapers, review and filing of 1040, 1065, and fiduciary returns
- Experience with professional tax preparation platforms (e.g., CCH Axcess, Thomson GoSystems, etc.)
- Passion for AI-driven tax workflow improvement
Communication & Analytical Skills
- Exceptional analytical reasoning and conceptual clarity
- Ability to explain complex regulatory logic in structured, precise terms
- Ability to collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, and product stakeholders
Technical Requirements
- Familiarity with SQL, relational databases, and structured data concepts
- Understanding of object-oriented design principles
- Ability to express business rules and validation logic using Python, JavaScript, or similar technology
- Experience using AI-assisted automation tools for research, execution, or workflow automation

The Role
Black Ore is seeking a Technical Tax Specialist to join our Information Architecture team and serve as a tax domain expert for the design of an AI-native tax platform. In this role, you will collaborate with CPA’s, architects, engineers, and AI engineers to deliver the next generation of AI-enabled innovation for financial services.
This role sits at the intersection of tax, information architecture, and AI-enabled technology design. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled tax professional with strong analytical capabilities and the ability to formalize complex tax concepts into implementation-ready software artifacts.
Responsibilities
- Translate tax rules, regulatory guidance, and accounting concepts into structured data models, business rules, and computational logic
- Research complex tax and regulatory guidance from authoritative sources to define requirements, taxonomies, rule sets, and integration workflows for tax automation
- Explain complex tax and accounting concepts to non-CPA technical stakeholders
- Use AI to accelerate delivery of models and implementation artifacts
